چکیده

Abstract This study provides an efficient alternative by extracting bioactive compounds from Haematococcus pluvialis via matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD) its wet form, reducing one of the process steps with greatest economic impact, drying microalga. To obtain a suitable extract for nutraceutical purposes, solvents generally recognised as safe (GRAS) designation (ethanol, ethyl lactate, and acetate) limitations use (acetone) extractants higher toxicity such methanol methyl-tert-butyl ether (MTBE) are contrasted. Through optimisation extractive process, ethanol, GRAS solvent, presents best overall recovery carotenoid fatty acids, showing antioxidant activity 1.58 mmolTE g −1 DW, comparable to synthetic petrochemical origin without drawback having in food use. In addition, identification phenolic compounds, phloroglucinol, p- coumaric acid, gallic catechin, not previously characterised red stage H. , response present (24.65 mmolGAE DW). Comparison efficiency obtained main methods extraction carotenoids acids contrast proposed method, shows positive feasibility this approach.

Subcritical Water Extraction and Characterization of 1 Bioactive Compounds from Haematococcus Pluvialis

13 14 In this work, extraction and characterization of compounds with antioxidant and antimicrobial 15 activity from Haematococcus pluvialis microalga in red phase have been carried out. To do 16 this, subcritical water extraction (SWE) has been combined with analytical techniques such as 17 HPLC-DAD, HPLC-QqQMS and GC-MS and in-vitro assays (i.e., for antioxidant and 18 antimicrobial activity)...

Effects of spray-drying and storage on astaxanthin content of Haematococcus pluvialis biomass.

The main objective of this study was to evaluate the stability of astaxanthin after drying and storage at different conditions during a 9-week period. Recovery of astaxanthin was evaluated by extracting pigments from the dried powders and analysing extracts by HPLC. The powders obtained were stored under different conditions of temperature and oxygen level and the effects on the degradation of ...

Media Screening for Obtaining Haematococcus pluvialis Red Motile Macrozooids Rich in Astaxanthin and Fatty Acids

Astaxanthin from Haematococcus pluvialis is commercially produced in a two-stage process, involving green vegetative (macrozooid) and red aplanospore stages. This approach has been scaled up to an industrial process but constraints limit its commercial success and profitability, including: contamination issues, high pigment extraction costs, requirements for high light levels and photo-bleachin...

Preliminary Clinical Evaluation of Toxicity and Efficacy of A New Astaxanthin-rich Haematococcus pluvialis Extract

Astaxanthin (Ax), a carotenoid ubiquitously distributed in microorganisms, fish, and crustaceans, has been known to be a potent antioxidant and hence exhibit various physiological effects. We attempted in these studies to evaluate clinical toxicity and efficacy of long-term administration of a new Ax product, by measuring biochemical and hematological blood parameters and by analyzing brain fun...

Antioxidant role of astaxanthin in the green alga Haematococcus pluvialis

The green unicellular alga, Haematococcus pluvialis has two antioxidative mechanisms against environmental oxidative stress: antioxidative enzymes in vegetative cells and the antioxidative ketocarotenoid, astaxanthin, in cyst cells. We added a reagent that generates superoxide anion radicals (O2 ), methyl viologen, to mature and immature cysts of H. pluvialis. Tolerance to methyl viologen was h...
